wow, williams a douche. anyways, the atheros ar5009 wifi card is not yet supported (there are no drivers). atheros cards that are supported range from ar5005 to ar5008x so you need a different card. i had the same problem and just went out and picked up a dlink usb card. here is a list of supported adapters. http://www.tamos.com/products/commwifi/adapterlist.php
u also need to install the commview wifi driver for your supported card before airmon-ng will see ur card. hope this helps. if you need more info just e-mail me or reply.

the ar5009 is not yet supported however is there possibly a driver for a slightly older card or any card for that matter that that would be compatible with the ar5009 that is supported by the aircrack software. p.s. williams is a douche

zomg!!! wireless cracking is illegalz????// There are actually legit purposes for cracking wireless encryption; such as testing your own networks’ security. You can’t just ASSUME he’s doing it for something un-lawful. And being a “DDoSer” or in your case an ex-DDoSer doesn’t make you an expert in law and for that matter what the hell is a DDoSer??? If you’re trying to say you were a hacker .. you FAIL. Maybe you should go find some scripts and then you could like totally h@x everything!
Anyways back on topic, to the OP check this site :
http://madwifi-project.org/wiki/Compatibility/Atheros
They are developing Atheros drivers for Backtrack and it should help you.
