    It is illegal to connect to any wireless network without the express consent of the owner. You can get 5years in prison for this. Since most sensible wireless connections are secured, to connect would require breaking encryption. This is worth 30 years.

    You can connect to any open wireless network for free but what you’re talking about will only let you find wireless networks and monitor the signal strength.
    If you’re trying to use it for wardriving/warwalking then that’s one thing, but to actually connect you’re going to need your wireless driver on your computer.
