Cisco Aironet and Atheros based chipsets are compatible that support packet injection. As long as you're using this for ethical purposes (testing security vulnerabilities on your *own* network) this should work well for you. If you're looking to do illegal, unethical hacking - disregard this answer and refer to FCC laws.

I HIGHLY recommend getting an Alfa adapter.
I have two different Alfa adapters, and both are plug and play compatible with BT3 and BT4.
All you have to do is type:
ifconfig wlan0 up
....and you are good to go.
Alfa also makes the most powerful adapter on the market 500mw which is awesome, and highly sensitive. If you read the BT forums you'll find that Alfa is also highly recommended by many others who use BT.
Another thing worth noting, these adapters are also compatible with the VMWare versions of BT since only USB adapters can be used with VMWare.
