The MAC address comes from ROM on your network card- it’s like a serial number and cannot be changed without changing the card. New hardware = new MAC address.
Many routers support MAC address spoofing (broadcasting a different MAC address than your real one) and some utilities exist which allow this direcly from your machine, with no router involved. Here are a couple:

    There are two ways:
    1. Change a registry key, but I don’t know what the key is for Vista (and I don’t trust Vista not to go crazy if you change anything there).
    2. Use a program like SMAC (link attached) that does work with all OS including Vista.http://software.techrepublic.com.com/dow…
Disclaimer: I have no financial or any other connection to this software. I just googled it.

MAC address cannot be changed it is embedded into the machine/hardware itself, MAC address is not like IP address, anyhting you try will waste your time, buddy.

    just use this tool http://devices.natetrue.com/macshift/
Even if the MAC is unique to your network card, XP and for sure Vista has it stored in the registry, and just reads the original Address once in awhile.

The MAC address cannot be changed except in one circumstance …. change the network card!
The MAC address is a unique id that is stored in the chipset of the ethernet card in ROM and cannot be repeated anywhere else in the world. So the only way to change it is to change the ethernet card. Duplicate MAC addresses on the Internet is bad and can cause errors on the network.
